Kairos Cookies

It’s time for Kairos weekend at R.J. Donovan Prison.  Kairos will be administering to 4 yards this Fall.  Yards A,B,C and D will be participating in the Kairos event in October 2019.  For those who wish to participate by baking cookies, the time is now.

The Kairos weekend will be October 17th – October 20th, 2019.  All cookies need to be delivered Sunday October 13th, 2019.  The cookies should be 1 dozen, packed in a freezer bag (zip-loc style), so the prison can inspect them.  If nuts are included please mark the bag accordingly.  (Please do not use tinfoil or wire twist ties) Deliver the cookies to the church office or narthex.  I will pick them up Sunday morning.  Again thank you for your support to the men that will be participating in this event.  I also ask for prayerful support once more during this event.

Uppity Women Rock

So, here’s the question:  What do you do with women who have opinions, who know they are great opinions, who want to share their opinions?  Well, you just need to come and see what they do.

Uppity Women starts Oct 9th in room 216:  1 of my very fave woman is Cokie Roberts, who recently passed from cancer.  But,   while she was alive, look out, she was an amazing author, trail blazing news woman and all around very interesting. Find out what she says Uppity Women have accomplished.

Vision 2030

Proverbs 29:18 famously reads, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”  One could easily insert the church for people and one can easily see chuches out there that have lost their zeal for Christ and the world, resulting in a slow decline into irrelevance.  Our leaders at FUMCCV have been hard at work for nearly two years casting some new vision for the next ten years (2020-2030).  Where is God leading us?  Who does God want us to become?  Who does God want us to reach?  If we find these answers, how are we actually going to accomplish it all?  Most often when you hear the phrase ‘fall stewardship campaign’ you think of finances and the church asking you to share your finances.  That will be a part of this sermon series, but it will not be the only part.  The most important part of this sermon series is that we will be laying out the Vision 2030 and we believe that you will be excited about it and one way you will share your excitement is to get involved and another is to share your finances.
