Permanent Endowment Fund

Where your gifts will live forever.

Purpose

The Permanent Endowment Fund of First United Methodist Church of Chula Vista provides a means for members and friends to make charitable gifts that will survive perpetually while providing annual income to the Church and its missions and ministries.

How the Fund Works

A monetary gift to the Endowment Fund is invested with the California-Pacific United Methodist Foundation. That gift becomes a permanent part of the Fund, and is not spent. Earnings from the investments are returned to the Church to be used according to the purposes of each designated fund.

How you can make a gift

A gift to the Endowment Fund can be made anytime and for any amount. Some people choose to make an endowed gift to celebrate a special occasion, to honor a loved one, or to share an inheritance or unexpected financial blessing. An endowment gift to the Church can also be very easily made through your will or trust so that you can be a blessing to the Church beyond your lifetime.

Benefits of Endowed Gifts

  • Donations are tax-deductible.

  • The missions or ministries most important to you will be supported for generations to come.

Designations to the Fund

You decide how your gift is to be used by "designating" the purpose, or you can make an "undesignated" gift that will be invested by the Endowment Committee where most needed. The current Endowment Fund categories are:

  • Mission Funds:

    • Denominational Mission Fund

    • Local Mission Fund

    • Meek Memorial Fund to be used for missions

    • Taylor and Essley Memorial Fund

  • Property Funds:

    • Property Maintenance Fund

  • General Funds:

    • Scholarships:

      • Ruth Collet Memorial

      • Charles Rowe Memorial

      • Wesley Fund

    • Parsonage Fund (Pastoral
      Housing)

    • Music Ministry Fund

    • Mooney Foundation Fund

      • Ruth Collet Memorial

Gifts of any size can be made to increase the permanent principal of any of these funds. With a gift of $10,000 or more, you can establish a new endowment fund creating a legacy in your name, the name of a loved one, or in a name that is meaningful to you, and you designate how the earnings are to be used at FUMCCV.

Large or small, endowment gifts are always appreciated!
