At First United Methodist Church of Chula Vista, we believe faith is meant to be lived in community. We are a church that spans generations, from children to grandparents, all coming together to worship God, serve others, and share Christ’s love in real and practical ways. Whether you are stepping into church for the first time or returning after some time away, you will find a place that welcomes you exactly as you are.
We are rooted in the mission of the United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. But here in Chula Vista, we live that out through genuine relationships, meaningful worship, and active service. We believe that God’s love is best expressed through action, feeding the hungry, supporting our neighbors without housing, building homes in Mexico, and caring for those in need across our city and beyond.
Our church community celebrates the diversity of God’s creation. We intentionally include all people, including our LGBTQ+ siblings, and we work to create a safe and affirming space where everyone can explore their faith, ask honest questions, and grow spiritually. We value justice, compassion, and grace, striving to reflect the heart of Jesus in the way we live and serve together.
On Sundays, you will find two distinct but equally welcoming worship experiences. Our 9:30 traditional service brings the beauty of hymns, choirs, and liturgy in a warm and familiar setting. Our 11:00 modern service offers a more casual environment designed for those who connect best through contemporary worship and a family-style feel. Both services center on community, scripture, and connection to God’s presence in daily life.
Through small groups, children/teen ministries, life groups, and hands-on service opportunities, we continue to grow together in faith and friendship. Everything we do, from our intergenerational mission projects to our annual homeless shelter program, reflects our belief that the church is not just a building but a people united by love and purpose.

3) Park in our parking lot, and feel free to ask one of our friendly volunteers for assistance if needed.
4) Join us inside for an uplifting worship experience. You'll be greeted with open arms!
5) Stay after the service to connect with our community over coffee and snacks.
