What we’re about
A church family where faith grows, love is shared, and everyone belongs.
At First United Methodist Church of Chula Vista, faith is lived together. All ages are welcome to worship, serve, and share Christ’s love; whether you’re new or returning.
We follow the United Methodist mission to make disciples of Jesus for the world’s transformation. We build real relationships, worship with purpose, and serve actively: feeding the hungry, supporting neighbors, building homes in Mexico, and caring for those in need.
We celebrate creation’s diversity and fully include everyone, including LGBTQ+ people. Our church is a safe place to explore faith, ask questions, and grow. We value justice, compassion, and grace, living out Jesus’ love.
Sundays offer two welcoming services: 9:30 a.m. traditional with hymns and liturgy, and 11:00 a.m. modern with contemporary music and a family feel. Both center on community, scripture, and connecting with God.
Through small groups, ministries for kids and teens, life groups, and service projects, including an annual homeless shelter program, we grow in faith and friendship. No matter where you are on your faith journey, you’re welcome here. Together we seek to love deeply, serve boldly, and follow Jesus with open hearts.

1) Choose a service time that suits you—traditional at 9:30 AM or modern at 11:00 AM.
2) Set your GPS to 1200 E H Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910, and head to our welcoming church.
3) Park in our parking lot, and feel free to ask one of our friendly volunteers for assistance if needed.
4) Join us inside for an uplifting worship experience. You'll be greeted with open arms!
5) Stay after the service to connect with our community over coffee and snacks.
